A copy of the Randall Made Model #1 All Purpose Fighting Knife, it was manufactured by CS for decades.  However, while perusing the CS catalog while reading the "CS responds to BM" thread, I noticed that they no longer offer it.

A typical site I found showing it's been discontinued:  https://www.onestopknifeshop.com/store/cold-steel-r1-military-classic.html

Cold Steel R1 Military Classic:

The Randall made version:

Anyone know why they discontinued it?  I tried Blade forums.com but could find no thread discussing it.  Apparently, CS shut down their own discussion forums a while back as well, I used to be a member there.

This is all CS has now on their website; their R1 Military Classic Rubber Training knife:

I don’t know. But if the big was ever compelled to re release them I’d certainly buy one.

My guess is that anyone looking for that style, opted for the original Randall or if looking to spend less, the Blackjack copies.

Yeah, Blackjack is probably the best value and most available for that type of model; and very well made:

Compare the two links, one I provided for the CS version vs. the Rock6 Blackjack version:  They're less than $20 between them :  $243.74 vs. $224.95 (MSRP:  $389 vs. $412).  I find it hard to believe that small price difference made CS stop production on it.

Most likely they didn’t sell enough to justify making it anymore.

Which two knives are your referring to?  CS vs. Randall?  Randall hands down.  But time and $$.

If you want a Randall #1 or CS #1 fighting-type knife, I'd look at the BlackJack #1-7, another Randall #1 knife clone.  I have a BJ 125 and it's beautiful; I'd expect their #1-7 to be the same.

My apologies for not responding to this question earlier:

I. don't. know.

*However* if they followed the RMK type construction, all are full tang knives:   https://www.randallknives.com/knife-construction/

The other indication of a full tang knife:  Look at the butt cap; usually the only way to mount that is via a threaded tang end.

My .02.

I do know this:  RMK #1, CS #1, BJ #1-7:  I would buy without hesitation.  Zero Hesitation.

These are all stick tang. They do go the full length of the handle though, and are threaded on with either the pommel or a nut.
Full tang would have scales for handles.
The exceptions are the stag handled, and wood or micarta versions with no pommel. Those are epoxied on.
Either one is plenty tough enough.
