How many of you gents currently own more than one Scar 17s? Why? Curious because I have 2 identical 17's, with tons of mags and spare parts. I got the 2nd one mostly because of the uncertain future of them with current politics. Im considering downloading one to get into the sub gun realm.

Considering its reliability, Im not sure its a platform I need to have copies of. Seeing how expensive they are anyway.

I would say hit me up if you dump an FDE 17S, but I know it would be over $3k.

Sometimes I wish I bought a 2nd so I could sell it on gunbroker and buy a new car with the money.

Selling something, especially a redundancy, to fund an SMG is always a good choice.

Wanted a FDE one, but bought a black one because gun store only had that color. Gun store called two days later to say they had a FDE one. So the Black one just sets in the safe unfired for years now. FDE gets used all the time.

Several years ago I had a local FFL friend order me a black 17S. Much time passed without it being available and delivered. Decided one afternoon to take a drive to a much larger shop, basically, just to "window shop". Low and behold, shop had a FDE 17S at a decent price. Bought it. The very next day my FFL friend called to inform the black 17S had finally arrived. Thus, I ended up with two 17S in two days.

Dont personally, but have a friend with 3.  He also had a ferrari so it wasnt a financial stretch.  He put in multiple orders during a panic and ended up keeping all of them.

Have two 17S's  currently.  Ones a 16" and the other has a 20" barrel. Use them both for general shooting and as my emergency rifles. The 16" has a few deer under its belt.

The 20" would look sick if you added a extended rail.

I wish I had two SCAR 17s I would have a 16" and SBR the other.

Not sure what I'd do with the longer rail. It'd look nice but offer me no more function for the added weight.....not that this one gets drug out into the woods as it sits.

For an SBR the green furniture FAL in the pic is a 13.5" select fire so that'll get the job done.

As for other SBR's, well these seem to cover all my needs.

I’ve got 2. One is now an SBR. Why 2? It’s iconic and peerless, pure joy to shoot.

They’re stupid overpriced right now because they’re between shipments. Sell now and buy another later if you miss having 2.

The SCAR 17S is the "Gerber Tool" of rifles. I hope you are able to acquire one. They are fantastic.

Several on gunbroker now starting at $3,099. Decent price and a shipment seems to have arrived but they will no doubt increase in price as the current supply dries up.

One black 17S, one FDE 17S. Honestly wasn't a fan and had no interest in owning one, I thought they were overpriced and overrated. I fell into two smoking deals on them, both used, while running a gun store. Now I f'n love them. I see them as my SHTF rifles, they don't quite top my AR15s but they are awefully close and the most time I spend with them the more I like them. The fact that they are valuable is just a cherry on top, I doubt they will ever go down in value, more like go up.

I am not a sub gun guy, personally I don't get it. Going from a 17S to sub gun sounds like a major downgrade to me (unless we are talking full auto).

The weight difference is there but not drastic but I liked that I had more room to rest on closer to the end of the bore and allowed me to run a bi-pod and hand stop together.  It was one beef I had with the rifle that the limited hand guard space coupled with my long arms and wanting to capability to attach a bi-pod for prone shooting.  Also I wanted to ditch the pic rails and move to m-lok.

Back in 2012 I bought 4 of them. Sold 3. Still have one and have put a few upgrades on it. I don’t shoot it much as I like my shorty AR.  It’s my deer rifle more or less but doesn’t do well just rolling around in a Polaris shooting at pigs.

There are only two groups, those who own no SCARs and those who will be getting more. I'm of the group that will be getting more. I want a SBR next.

This thread made me go look on gunbroker and see if the price is as high as ya'll say. Wtf, saw one for over $4,000 most at $3.5k. I dont see myself ever owning one unless i win the lotto. My large frame ar's work just fine for alot less. It may be the best 308 semi out there but thats just to dam much money for one. Now im not looking down on you owners, if you got it then congrats.

I'm with ya. Frankly, for any real world use, I'm beginning to like my M14 more and more. Maybe I'll build one with a shorter barrel....or get an FAL.
