I've got a decent supply of surplus 54r, so I'd like to keep 1 of these 3, I just can't decide which one.

M44 mosin, ok, counterbored muzzle
M39 Finnish mosin, probably most rare and most accurate, worth the most
Laminate 91/30, cool looking, seems to be in great shape

M39 hands down. Best of all Mosins.

Definitely keep the Finn.  Almost all Russian Mosins were reconditioned at the arsenals in the early 50's so there is nothing special about most of them.  Finn rifles are more unique, cost more, and are harder to replace.

Definitely the M39

Keep the M39 , easily the best shooting Mosin hands down.

Keep the most accurate one,  probably will be the 39.

Yep, keep the M39 and tell your wife that you sold the others and keep the 91/30 too.

M39 and keep the 91/30

M44s never did much for me.

M39, no question.

A couple years back I sold off nearly all of my Mosins, but kept both my M39s (and the nicest of my M91/30s).

At one time I had about 25 Mosins from multiple countries in multiple models.

All that remain are:

M39 on the US receiver with a SAKO barrel.
M91s in various Finn permutations
91/30 Spanish Civil war veteran
91/30 legit Izhvesk sniper
91/30 Finn Winter War capture
M53 Chinese
M44 1944 Russian with a stamped matching Chinese manufacture bolt

I sold M44s from all the Warsaw Pact, a 28/30 for big money, Czech rework M38, other M38s, M59s, etc.  They were gathering dust and the money was needed elsewhere.

I'm going to break with the pack and say keep the M39.

Seriously, though, keep the M39.

Let me be the first to say keep the M-39.

You might check to see if there is anything "special" about the other two.  I missed, the when made, who made or anything unique about them.

The laminate is a 1938 izhevsk all numbers matching with a bunch of symbols stamped all over it. I haven't looked at the m44 in a while

I'm thinking about selling my Russian mosins, except for my sniper, and getting a M39 to replace them.

I once had a bunch of Mosin's too as well as quite a bit of ammo. I finally realized that generally speaking they're just....crude. Sold all of them and the ammo. But if you're intent on keeping one, definitely the M39 if for no other reason than someone actually figured out how to polish a turd.

I know I am going to burn for this, but I see it a bit like owning more than one AR.

I see each of mine as unique.  My remington is different from the westinghouse, is different from the hex russian, is different from the smooth soviet, is different from the...........you get the idea.

I will however say that 90% of the surplus ammo is just noise makers, I am sitting on almost a box and likely will be sitting on almost a full box the day that I die.  Hand loads in everything, and that goes double true for the automatics that shoot 54R.

I don't see that they eat anything past safe space....so eh why bother.

I don't really need the safe space anymore as most of my stuff was lost in that tragic boating accident.

I would agree with the hive, and say, keep the 39.
Look at the M44.  You may have a rare one.  Tula made them for 1 year.
You could keep them all.  So far they will be Biden proof.  Except for the potential ban on imported ammo.

That was the most annoying thing about that series.
Followed by Almos's face and the ending.

I vote Keep em all but the counter bored 44 op.

I have an M44 and a ex-PU 91/30, and I would trade them both in a heartbeat for an M39.

There is nothing wrong with a counter-bored rifle.  Hell, they shoot better than non-bored ones.
