One comes free with every 10/22. I'd look for used 10/22s in pawn shops and ask around, someone might have one for sale. Finding a naked receiver nowadays is like catching a live unicorn.

Brownell's gets their BRN-22 receivers in stock with regularity. Best part, you can purchase a version with a pic rail incorporated into the top.

+1 for the Brownells receiver, mine is perfect. The 10/22 is so popular, finding a used one at a good price is nearly unheard of anywhere that people like guns, so it makes sense to go ahead and buy a new one. Also saves the work of removing the factory barrel.

I found one in my garage pile that years ago I once painted pink for my daughter. She hasn't used it for ages, so I attempted to strip the paint with solvent and a toothbrush. That didn't work, so now I have a box of gross-looking half-black/half-ballet-slipper pink Ruger parts. There's also a cheap Tasco scope and a silencer that are also weirdly spraypainted.
 If you want it (and have access to a soda blaster to make this less ugly), I'll sell it fo' cheep! |
