Where do you get ammo for your DD that are 12.7x108, 14.5x114, various 20mm rounds, and up?

It seems like there’s small quantities of 20mm that you could reload, do people buy 20mm brass from DRMO and reload cast projectiles or turn them on a lathe?

What do you do for Russian calibers that are steel cased? Do you reload, where do you get ammo from?

Last MG shoot here at Red Hill GA a SOT had a FA DshKa. I asked if it was converted to 50 he said no. But then said once we run out of ammo for it they were going to do the conversion.

So someone had large stock pile at one time.

You can buy new 12.7x108mm ammo. Made by Tula, but not cheap.

The other calibers... reloads, mostly. Tooling is available, and people repurpose existing projectiles (Lathi) or have new projectiles turned (PTRD), and load them into new or modified (for modern primers) cases.

One of the guys in the 50 cal discussion that used to work for Barret said that someone that had 2 20’ connex’s of 12.7 asked Ronnie if he would build a M107 converted to fire it. Ronnie said no, I guess the juice wasn’t worth the squeeze.

A M107 or 82 in 12.7x107 or 14.5x114 would be cool thou. I guess that’s we’re Anzio comes in.

Do you know the companies or people that have the tooling?

CH4D is a start, and past that... custom reamers, custom tooling. Easiest is to make (or have made) simple dies and convert a hydraulic log splitter. Hell of a reloading press, isn't it?

Surplus? Length? I haven't seen any but the random newly made 14.5mm barrel here and there over the last ten years, with the sole exception of a handful of KPV kits.

...interested in selling one?

They are surplus. I will have to dig them out and measure them, but they are close to 60" I would say. If I can't find ammo in quantity, then I would be interested. I was going to make bolt guns out of them.....

Interesting! Well, at some point if you do dig those out and get an idea of the length, shoot me a private message, please.

Bolt guns could be fun, but it would be more fun to design or adapt a mag and make a gigantic semi-auto. Less fun for your wallet in terms of ammo cost, but still. Fun.
