5.45x39 or 7.62x39, I can still walk into local stores and buy it for 25-30c a round.

The standard ol' #8 and #7.4 shot is 22 cents a round. 25 if you don't feel like waiting for a sale. And no limits in stores. I snagged another 1000 rounds last month from the local Academy store. Their monarch stuff cycles in my simiautos fine. After 12ga, the 7.62x39. I ordered from TSUSA Oct 15 and it was $321/case, so 32 cents a round. Pre-panic pricing was 18 cents. People are still posting photos of the x39 in academy stores filling the shelves, and no limits on how much you can buy. If you happen to get lucky, I went into cabela's a month ago and all they had on the shelf was 40s&w. It was 35 cents for JHP, and no limits. I went in last week to snag some more, and they didn't have any handgun ammo. |

32 acp seem to stay in the $15/box range

I wish I had an AK or similar based on how easy it is to find 7.62x39. Also seeing lots of 6.5 on the shelf.
10mm is also surprisingly plentiful here. my vote is 45acp. It was $35/50 at the same store that was selling 9mm for $40/50 ![]() |

Went ammo cruising this weekend. Didn't need anything but it was something to do and I like to keep on top of the market.
Two boxes of 32 acp for $22 each. Last two the store had. They also had one box of Speer 124 gr 9mm Gold Dots. $1.50 a round. Not sure a bad guy is worth $1.50. This was Sportsmans Warehouse, normally the cheapest big box store. Two boxes of Fiocchi 357 mag with 142 grain full metal jacket. Not sure what this load is intended for, anti tank round maybe. Only $22 a box and Scheels had twenty or so. Limited to 200 rounds per person. Fleet Farm was stripped clean. Bass pro had a couple of boxes of 45 Colt. Rifle hunting ammo, 243, 270, 7mm Rem Mag, etc, was plentiful in most places. |

Strangely, I dug my Nagant Revolver out from the back of the safe. 70s/80s surplus is about 25 cents per round.

You can find stuff cheap if you're patient and have notifications set up. Natchez puts up 223/9mm/45, etc., when they get some and price it normally, it just sells out super fast so you gotta be fast. Think they had PMC X-Tac up today for $8/20.
I just got 180 rounds of surplus 7.62x51 for my FAL for $105. |

Idk what to say about 7.62x39, $320 seems steep to me. I was used to paying $159 plus shipping for 1000 round case. I have a feeling though that the Biden adminstration will put sanctions on russian mfg. ammo so maybe $320 for a case is cheap.

View Quote This is exactly what I was thinking when this thread first started a while back and a bunch of people were claiming 7.62x39. Even back then, it had already pretty much doubled in price. It might have been more readily available, but it wasn't cheap unless you were comparing it to triple the price 5.56/223, 308, or 30-06. |
