Finally got a box of KAC goodness.  Now to find an optic.  What are you guys running?  I've got an old Trijicon RX01 from a police trade in on my 9mm AR, otherwise zero experience.  Looking for recommendations.

Sig Sauer Romeo 5 on some inexpensive quick release mount, possibly a UTG. I tried using the included low rise mount but the red dot was on the front sight ring...kind of distracting. So, I then tried the high-rise included mount, which cleared the front sight, but it seemed too high. It looked awkward too. Eventually, I picked up a 1/2" QR mount, which was a good balance. I was trying to get as close as I could to the already low bore while not having the dot on the front sight or hovering out in space.
There was an article some time back in G&A regarding setting up a sight picture in this situation where your options are either to establish a set zero for where the sight and POI meet or use a parallel zero knowing you POI will be say 3" below your aim point.

Z-5P: Holosun 503GU on a Battle Steel mount.  Makes for an absolute cowitness.

I removed the entire rear sight and front post for an uncluttered sight picture.  Should the optic fail, I can still center the front hood inside the optic and it's still pretty much dead on.

Only problem is that a little more care has to be used when pulling the charging lever back and I lost the ability to properly perform the HK slap on my MP5-K clone.  Worth it, imo. Would maybe be a bit better on a full-size.

Trijicon MRO, hands down. If you want something on a bit more of a budget, then the Primary Arms adv micro red dot.

I like the low profile of the optic. I just picked up my 5RS. I’m going with a T1.

I just put my MP5 RAS on and I am really digging the high mount and comp M2. I’ve been wanting a T1 just to use on different things but man I really like that.

Pics...

At this height (low mount + 1/2" QR riser), the dot, which I couldn't get in the pic, sits about 1/2" about the top of the front sight ring.

Different tools for the job. Yes, a gratuitous picture.

My MKE A2 has no optic.  My SP5K has a Trijicon MRO. I am very pleased with it.  I had an Aimpoint H1, and sold it.  I like the bigger tube on the Trijicon.

Any pics of the MRO? And is it on a welded rail? I run MRO’s on my ar’s and have a primary arms micro on one of my mp5’s.

Aimpoint Pro, I just picked up in the EE, in the KAC RIS 30mm Mount. Been waiting years to get this set up for my Dakota D54P.

It’s currenly sitting on my Z5 P right now.  Sight picture is essentially the same as the SP5K.
