This was described in an online auction as a “Remington 22 Cal Setter”.

It looks like something that might be used to kill livestock at a slaughterhouse.

Used to set anchors into concrete, studs, etc.   Think driving a nail with a blank cartridge.

Found several on eBay with image search under the name “Remington 476 Powder Actuated Hammer Fastener”

Correct.  I don't spend much time in hardware stores or any time at work sites.  I'm a 40-year programmer, math nerd, barely know how to do anything involving hardware, spent way too much of my life watching screens of one sort or another.

Haha, gotcha'! The only reason I knew what it was is from putting up some new walls in my computer store back in the '00s. Ramset 2x4s into the cement floor and put up studs from there. You can buy them at Home Depot, Loews, etc. I, too, make my living sitting in front of a keyboard and four screens.
