I just bought a 44 gun American Security and was just curious as to what you other fellas used.
First safe, and I kinda dig it. |
|
The only thing I could afford at that time and was still a "safe".
Liberty 12 Gun Revolution. Love it...Just wish I could have went bigger. BUT Bigger also wouldn't fit in my house either. |

In before all the "not a safe" comments.
I currently have 36gun Stackon Total Defense. Its decent enough for what I need over the years. Plan I getting a Liberty Fatboy Extreme this year. |

I got a Sports Afield at Menards during Black Friday this past year and so far it's been great! Got the motion sensor LED light strips for it as well.

|
still using an AMSEC with S&G lock that was purchased about 35 years ago... at the time I was shooting pistols and didn't worry about long gun room... now I've got some stacked between slots
|

Over 20 years and 3-4 residential moves later; still like new. Built like a tank. Attached File

I am poor
Granite Safe aka Winchester..matches one of my rifles though.. also a Sentry and Liberty... I really like the looks on these Rhino Metals safes. |

Liberty Fatboy, a Fatboy Jr, and some tractor supply brand cheapy for lowers, parts guns, and optics.
The Fatboy Jr is one of the best deals going for a larger safe. I love my Fatboy, but there isn't enough extra room to justify paying the difference in price. |

I just got my new Liberty Safe Lincoln 25 delivered to me about a month ago. Very happy with it. I just ordered a set of rifle rods and a wireless hydrometer for it. I also got a safe cover for it.

I'm shopping and leaning towards a Fatboy. Is there any other products I should be looking at in that price range (~$3k)? |

Been thinking of a Heritage safe.
From what I’ve read, they are a solid product. Not to mention I can get one from a local store less that 30 mi away which should help w/ delivery. |
|
Liberty Presidential Series. Mine is presently configured for 36 long guns with side shelves for small items and overhead shelf for personal papers.
Bought it new about 20 years ago when they were about 1/2 the price they are now. It’s internally bolted to the concrete slab it sits on. This is the 2.5 hour at 1200 degree “fireproof” model. Worth every penny. |

I have a Liberty similar to the Centurion 24 line that I bought 20ish years ago to leave at my parents house when I went to college. I left it there until a couple years ago because it is a pain to move. I did drop it when moving it from my parents' house, the S&G dial lock combo dropped one digit but otherwise works fine. Because I knew I would be moving a lot over the years, I later bought a 5ft Z2 modular safe from Zanotti Armor. I have moved it a few times over the years, to include up and down stairs. 500 pound safe, but heaviest single piece is the door (150ish pounds). I have been able to move the door by myself so far, with some sweat and curse words involved. The other pieces are not too bad. It assembles pretty tight and it would be difficult to get pry tools in the seams, have to use a rubber mallet to hammer pins in and out for assembly/disassembly. Assembly/disassembly has to be done with safe door open to access interior pins. I usually assemble it in a small closet to keep it out of sight and increase the difficulty in working on it by would be thieves. The Zanotti is not a "Fire Safe", but I rely on my home owners insurance in the event I need to replace stolen or damaged firearms. I highly recommend the modular Zanotti safes for people who have to move frequently and don't want to pay to have their safe moved and want to make it inconvenient for snatch and grab thieves. Initial purchase plus freight crowded $2000, but the convenience has been worth it to me. Zanotti customer service was pretty good. They called me after I placed my order online to confirm what interior options I wanted and which side I wanted the door hinges on. Then they called me when the safe was completed to confirm I had not changed my mind on interior options and confirm the shipping address.

Framed it into the wall and bolted it to the slab under my stairs when I finished the basement a few years back. View Quote That's badass. Seems like Liberty is one of the most popular gun safes out there, partly due to customer service/warranty. I've got a Superior Untouchable 45. Very happy with it. It's actually a B-rated safe, not just an RSC. 1/2" plate door with 1/4" plate sides. |

View Quote I thought maybe you'd converted the whole section under the stairs to a vault, and just bought a door. Was curious what you might have done to harden the other entry methods. But, just framing the whole safe in there makes that a non-problem. Bought a rifle from a guy years back who had done the basement vault thing. That was sweet. |

American Security BF6636.
I have owned it eleven years as of this coming November. Very happy with my decision. |

Quoted: Bighorn 18.46 cu. ft. Executive Safe - made by Rhino Metals, Inc for Costco https://i.imgur.com/WO3wfxe.jpg 340 lb. safe body, 14GA steel. Has five 1” diameter door bolts (3 active and 2 dead) supported by anti-pry supports, secure the 4.25” thick door with a 1.5” thick door front. The lock is protected by a hardened armor plate along with an internal re-locker designed to deadbolt the entire system if the lock is attacked. Plan to hand this one down to my son and upgrade to a much larger one. View Quote Don't take this the wrong way, cheap safes are better than no safes. And I also have a cheap 400 lb "safe". However, your posting of the "security features" seems to indicate that you may not understand what is actually a security feature. If you do understand I apologize. The 1" bolts are likely bolted onto a thin piece of sheetmetal with a M6 (1/4") bolt. The door is filled with drywall so it's not actually that thick. And a 14 ga body is slightly over 1/16"; sawsall, hatchet, heavy duty sheet metal shears will all work that up like a hot knife through butter. To answer the op's question, outside of the cheapo already mentioned I have an Amsec vault door. And if someone should breech that, inside they will find that the best merchandise is inside a TL-15 plate steel safe I got for $350. 1" thick solid steel walls and 1.5" thick solid steel door, around 3200 lbs IIRC. The best bang for the buck is always going to be used. The Amsec vault door was $500 and came from a building that was being demolished. |

Nice practical size with decent construction, etc. Not the prettiest nor the heaviest on the market but a good overall value. |

Amsec rfx tl-30 x 6 ,if they want in they will have to work for it

Framed out a stand & bolted it to the concrete, laid the safe on top and bolted safe to the 4x4s. all finished off with trim, etc. looks factory, -lol. |
