What happened to the MCX-MR? For those unfamiliar, it was Sig’s CSASS submission in 7.62 they debuted a few years ago. Is this thing ever going to see the light of day, or was it scrapped when it wasn’t selected?

I don't know what happened to the MCX-MR, but a 308 MCX would be great.
Give me the one pictured and a 12"SBR w/ a skeleton side folder please.

This man may know something.

Likely on the pile of shattered Sig dreams along with the 556xi and MPX caliber conversions.

Been hoping this thing would be out by now! I'll put it right next to my caliber xchange for my MPX!

Fell in love first time I saw this.
Asked about it at show recently. Same response as coregon, “shelved”.
So sad.
Want to see it in 6.5.
The new Seekins SP10 and their proprietary methods are likely going to turn the AR10/SR25 market on its head. Hopefully Sig learns from them.

What's so good about the Seekins SP10?

I am ready for the MCX-MR.  I have a virgin 308 lower squirreled away for if or when conversions become available.

It lives!!

Sig just showed off a short barreled MCX-MR at AUSA today as part of the NGSAW in a new 6.8 caliber tailored to the Army’s desires.

This is good news.
Buy the time I have enough cash for this, Sig should be on a Gen2 model. Sometime in late 2019

I raised this question to a couple Sig folks and the answer was maybe, maybe 2 years or so, that was last year. I get it, commercial sales would need to be there in lieu of contracts. I would love to have one of these, I kind of got the closest I could get, but it's a bolt gun (CA MPR)
It would be great to have a caliber change kit with that system(SiG) I could see the platform with a 5.56 and 6.8, etc.

Really interesting to see what kind of 6.8 round Sig comes up with for NGSW.

Also, that short MCX-MR is begging for an 8.6 Creedmore barrel :)

It references "lighter ammo" in .308? Saw the casing had what appeared to be an alloy head on it?

The Army wants a 20% weight savings vs legacy ammo for the NGSW-R/AR.  That is Sig’s solution. Not much out there for details yet.

Yeah, and using the government's super secret 6.8mm projectile. I would hazard a guess we'll see something like a 6.8 Creedmore using hybrid cases of either mixed metals or polymer case with metal base in addition to the Textron cased-telescoping cartridges.

Edit: CT rounds would not be for the MCX-MR, I was referring to the program as a whole.
