We're 6-7 months post launch, so what do you guys think of the SIG M400 Switchblade? Is it a pretender or contender? As I understand it, SIG has marketed this as "The Ultimate M400 Pistol", an out of the box competition ready AR. I feel its build specs set it up to be an equivalent competitor to current top teir AR's, especially for the money, but I could be wrong but am I?
Notable M400 SDI Switchblade Specs:
• Fully Ambidextrous SDI SIG Lower Reciever; Ambi Bolt Catch and Release, Ambi Safety and Oversized Ambi Mag release and Flared Magwell for faster reloads
• SIG Match Grade Flat Blade 2 Stage Matchlite Duo Trigger
• SIG 11.5" 1:7 twist CHF Carbon Steel, SIG profiled, Fully Nitrided Barrel with a taperlok end and 3 Prong Flash Hider.
• SIG Ambidextrous Charging Handle.
• SIG Aluminum Free Floated Handguard with MLOK at the 3, 6, and 9 O'clock positions, with a full length 1913 rail on the top.
• SIG Twin Locking Clamp Handguard provides increased rigidity allowing mounted accessories to retain zero by mounting through the top of the barrel nut.
• SIG Cerekote Elite Titanium Finish
I put a deposit on one for $1400 this past weekend and paid it off last night so Buds can hurry up and ship it. I'm really looking forward to getting it. IMO it is spec'd very competitively against current top teir AR's at the price of a mid tier AR. That makes the M400 Switchblade very intriguing and hard to overlook, especially at it's price point. The only negatives I see are the strong Titanium Cerekote color, which may dissuade some and the horrible looking MPX Rattler pistol grip, which may work out for some. For me, it will go and a Magpul K2 and other Stealth Gray goodies will take over.
There's definitely not much info out there on this new M400 SDI model but there is info available on other SIG M400 SDI models like the 2019 Competition and VTAC rifles, that you can guage off of. We shall see and time will tell but I think SIG has created a winner with the Switchblade!
