I'm looking at glass options. Mostly I just would like to see what people have experience with and what they use their gun for, all consolidated into one thread. List your rings too, if you like em (or if you don't).

For scopes and rings:

SWFA SS 10X
Vortex Viper HST 4-16x44 VMR-1 Reticle
SWFA SS 20x

On bolt guns:

Nightforce NSX 5.5-22x56
Vortex Viper 6-24
Burris Black Diamond 8-32x50
Nightforce NXS 8-32x56
Bushnell Tactical 10x40
Bushnell Elite 4-16x50
Leupold Mk 4
Millett LRS-1
US Optics SN3
Super Sniper 20x
Kahles 624i
Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50

On semi-autos:

Vortex Razor HD Gen II 4.5-27x56
Nightforce 3-10
SWFA Super Sniper 3-15x42
PA Platinum 6-30x56
Leupold Mark 4 16x40
Mark 4 ER/T 4.5-14 TMR
Nightforce ATACR 7-35 x 56 F1
Burris XTR II 4-20x50
Nightforce NXS 3.5-15
Vortex Viper PST Gen 2 2-25
SWFA Super Sniper 20x

Rings:
Badger USMC SASR 34mm
Badget Max 50
Barrett Rings
Leupold Mk 4 Rings
American Defense AD-Recon-SL
Millett 35mm Rings
Larue 20 MOA QD Mount
MI 3 Clamp QD Mount
Barrett EX Dual MOA rings
ERA-TAC Mount
Nightforce Magmount
Larue LT107 QD

Failed Scopes:
None currently

Nightforce NSX 5.5-22X; IMHO the best scope for the money hands down. Great internal adjustment range, holds up to the blast, and they stand behind their product. Get one, you won't regret it. I've had this scope on my Bushmaster BA50 for years and it's rock solid.

I'm using the same Nightforce NXS (mildot) as above on my bolt action .50bmg, my semi auto .50 has a Vortex Razor HD Gen II 4.5-27x56 also in mildot but is first focal plane which I greatly prefer.

Currently a NXS 5.5-22 on my 99. My first 99 had the factory supplied Bushnell fixed 10 Mildot which worked just fine as well. I had a Leupold Mark 4 fixed 16 on my 82 and it also worked fine.

Nightforce NXS also, but here's something else.
Barrett puts the Bushnell 10x on its 99 package, and it's a darn good scope for the money.

Edit;
Darn it, should have read the last post better. I agree completely.

Does anyone run the SWFA SS 10X optic on theirs? I have a friend who swears by them and suggested it's an awesome optic for the 50, especially considering that many of the first scopes issued with the M82s (US Optics and Swaro Barrett) were fixed 10X to more reliably hold up to recoil prior to the shift to the Mark 4 variable

I’ve seen people talk about using them online but never seen it in person. If they’ll warranty it it’s hot a huge risk. 10X does suck for some of the real long shots but works pretty well for most shooting.

I think if I were going to do a fixed 10 I would try and find a good deal on a bushnell like Barrett used.

Cool deal. Yeah. They just seem cheap and well respected for what they are. I figure if swaro decided to make make a fixed 10x power for the barrett, it should be okay for a 50 in theory.

People that have used various magnification for firing the 50 cals,  is 10x honestly too low a power for most users?

I had the SWFA 10x on my first 50BMG; never had a problem with it before I sold the package to help get my wife an engagement ring.

Sweet deal. Did you feel the magnification restricted you with how far you could shoot with it?

It all depends on what kind of shooting you want to do. There are a ton of variables with target size and distance. If you look at what most any Target, Long Range, Tactical shooters are using they are almost all using magnifications well over 10X. I could see where a simple 10X is a good solution for most military users since they use it primarily for anti material. The Swarovski was a cool scope and set up a lot like a ACOG with a nice calibrated BDC reticle. Looked like a damn christmas tree. Perfect for a quick simple working gun.

Like I said it totally depends on your usage. My 82 was strictly a blaster. I even had a eotech on it at one point. Fixed 10 was more than enough.

Badger max 50 rings as well. They are heavy, but that probably won't be an issue on a .50.

I've been happy with my Millett LRS-1 on my Windrunner.  No complaints about the included 35mm rings either.  That said, I'm currently limited to 200yds for range fun.

I am using the millet scoop with 4millet rings on my zel custom  50 BMG.

While  it isn't the clearest scope on the market it is good enough for my use.  I have used it out to 900 yards and coukd see the target rings well enough to shoot for the X. (Not like I hit anything at that range)
I have no trouble seeing deer size animals and able to identify a poi out past a mile

That looks amazing. Please let us know what kind of groups you're able to get out of it too. I've heard good things about the M107A1s and how they should group a lot tighter than the 82A1s with match ammo

So far I've only shot M2 ball mostly to break things.  I haven't needed to stretch it out much for that.  My goal is to get out over a mile with it, but I need to get some ammo sorted before I do that.  I'm working overseas right now, so I haven't had time or access to mess with it.

..but, I think 10x is underpowered, unless you just want to break stuff.  If you want to go accurate and far, I think you'll want more scope than that.

I believe it to be better glass and construction than my older us optics sn3.  I would have no issue putting mine on my 50, but the 308 gets more use so it gets the better optic.

How is the eye relief and clarity on that SS? I've heard a lot of people bashing the 20x glass, but it seems like a great option tbh if people find it works well in practice.

Tony,
So you have an original Tasco SS?

Have you ever had to send it in for service under the old Tasco or the company that bought them out?

Not sure if you remember when there was a running thread on Biggerhammer for people to post what round count theirs went out.

I remember being at the range with MrBen when his went out, we all joked that it was his turn to post to the thread.
