Interesting. I heard a rumor that SOCOM field tested such a mortar in Afghanistan.

I was gunner on the M224 60mm mortar.  The same features are available on the M224 for trigger fire and small baseplate for shorter range engagements.  It gets heavy but I’d want to vet the hell out of those composites.  Mortar rounds are just pussy round that go whooomp.  It’s a small explosion.
