Anyone running a vertical grip on their pump shotgun with something like a MagPul forend? It seems it would allow for a better grip and ergonomics when running the slide, but maybe I’m wrong since I don’t see anyone doing it...?

They seem useful, but are actually more awkward than they appear.

It's one of those things you need to try yourself to see if it suits you. I didn't like it. A lot of people do.

A couple of handstops works for me.

Ive been told you increase the chance of bending action bars, at least on 870’s

Tried it on an 870 and didn’t like it (too much lateral movement) felt like the slide and action bars were going to break off.  I do however run a vert grip on a Kel-Tec KSG but that’s a different animal.

I had one on an 870 and there was a tendency to angle it to at least a 7 o'clock position twisting the action bars and causing it to bind when pumping it.
