Well i've been looking around at the three or four most mentioned mounts for my M1A (ARMS, SEI, Sadlak, Basset) and have decided on the ARMS mount.  I'm about to upgrade optics as well (Leupold Mk4), and with that said I am looking for advice and experience related to getting the lowest height over bore as possible.  Any advice on which rings and ring height for the lowest mounting would be greatly appreciated.

I have an ARMS 18 split rail, Burris MTAC 3.5-10x42 in Warne low 30mm qd rings, about 1 mm of clearance on the front bell (primary optic is an Aimpoint PRO, thus qd rings). Will post pictures later. I'd assume for most scopes with a 42mm objective bell or less, you could probably get away with low rings from any maker, I specifically choose Warne because they were the lowest QD rings on the market that work for mounting an Aimpoint Pro as low as possible, same rings just happened to work out for my MTAC scope as well. Still, I'd double check measurements before buying rings after buying the scope

ETA: Pics of my "Randy Shughart -esk" M1A Loaded. FWIW, hope it helps, just from my iPhone.

As it normally sits:
