Folder, pocket clip, lockback. Hes a brute and I dont trust a liner lock.

He asked for a knife for a reason. Is there a type he wants?
Look at the ganzo and firebird by ganzo knives on Amazon. They have an axis type lock. Easier to work one handed than a lock back. |

$30 could be in the the cheaper Spyderco offerings. Bought one for my brother in law, it has served him well. Hes had it for 2-3yrs.

Check out the Kershaw Emerson offerings. I got a CQC-6K for my newphew this xmas. It's pretty damn nice. I carried an 8K for a few months until I decided I really like the wave and got an Endura Wave.

Kershaw Brawler.
Clip Assisted opening Lock back Tanto blade Not too big. Perfect size imo. Solid knife and my EDC. Check it out. |

Probably not under $30, but the Spyderco H1 series have the non corrosive steel, and a bright yellow handle. Lots of serrations and a blunt tip. Pretty much perfect for maritime
