I have been looking this shotgun up and it has been being used a lot in the UK at three gun matches and a lot of people love them.

I have been wanting a semi-auto magazine feed shotgun for years and as I like the AK style but would like to try and stay with the AR style since I mostly use an AR-15.

Atlantic Firearms has the Typhoon Defense F12 Shotguns in stock and we have also been testing these with various ammo types . Thus far they are very slick and offer shooter friendly ergonomics and quick mag changes . They do require a 50 -70 round break in process using heavy loads before you can start to run lighter loads with the F12 Shotgun .

Would love to see these compared to the RIA VR80.

They look similar but there are differences.

Great to see new shotguns coming out

The main difference is the operating system. The F12 has the recoil assembly around the barrel. The VR80 has the recoil spring, plus a buffer, in a buffer tube inside the stock just like an AR. The VR80 also has a buffer on the rear of the bolt. Lastly, I don't believe the F12 has a threaded muzzle for a brake, the VR80 does.

I've been having a great time with my VR80 breaking it in to use as an open shotgun for 3gun this year.

Good info.

Not a big shotgun guy so excuse my ignorance but which system is better for low brass loads.

Not sure how much it really matters. Mine eats up 3dram 1200 fps stuff all day and we tested 2-3/4 dram 1145s the other day and it ran perfect thru the 2 boxes we had on us

For F12 you use clamp on brake.

I shot mostly 32g (1 1/8 oz.) birdshot, but had no problems with 28g (1 oz.) 7.5 Competition low brass from Baschieri & Pelagri

Funny thing, the gas system on the F12 and operating system looks and functions the exact same way as my Panzer Arms 12 Pro version, they also have similar aluminum receivers. Disassembly is also similar. I wonder how close the parts would actually be to each other.

AFAIK Typhoon was first with this design. But last year on IWA at least 6 or 8 Turkish companies offered almost exactly same shotguns.
