I've got some old Navy surplus metal boxes with latches that I am looking to get rid of, and am trying to find out what they would be worth.  They are marked "FSN 1390-20304086 16 fuses VT w/fuse auxiliary det, Mk 71 mod 8 Mk 44".  They are rectangular with 4 latches.

Any thoughts?

Honestly, I don't believe they are worth a lot unless somebody is looking to fill a collection with those particular markings. I see similar type military surplus containers for $15-$20 at gunshows in my area. The rust and the re-marked contents labeling isn't helping the value.

Maybe somebody with specific knowledge could chime in about the rarity and/or desirability of these particular cans.

Concur with everything above...

Not particularly rare....really best for guys looking for watertight storage...I'd concur with around $20 a piece too....

I agree with the other posters

People are looking for smaller ammo cans with handles

You can buy surplus 30 and 50 caliber cans for under $10

I would personally sell them off as a lot instead of individually

$20-35 maybe a hair more. I sold 2 nice about the same sized ones that held helicopter parts for $35 each a couple of years ago.

I bought one not too long ago, in a little better condition for $20 just to store some things in.

Thanks guys.  Ended up scrapping them.  Far too much hassle trying to sell them/ship/transport them.
