What do you guys think about camo-ing your AR15?  Any practical use to doing so, or just for looks?  Is it too "Bubba"?

It is yours so do whatever you like on it. I personally like the sponge camo as well as the Rhodesian camo jobs.

[bb] Here's my attempt....didn't turn out as well as I'd have liked.  Looks ok, though.

...cant' get pics to load...why the hell does AR15 make it so hard load pics?

Thanks man.
1) laid down 2 base coats of Krylon River Rock
2) Striped over with Krylon Spanish Moss —- should

probably have used OD green for a flatter green look
3) sponged River Rock over the Spanish Moss areas, and

vice versa
4) randomly sponged in Krylon Brown Boot
5) randomly sponged in Rust Oleum Dark Earth Brown
6) sprayed over with 2 coats of rust oleum clear matt

I’m not sure it matches my AO as well as I’d like, so I may strip it and repeat, using Tan/Dark brown as main colors, then sponge in some Brown Boot and OD green.

I've sponge painted quite a few guns over the past few years.  I started with my BCM AR, but after showing it to co-workers I had a line of people wanting everything from their duck hunting shotgun to coyote AR to deer bolt action painted.  In the end, I probably painted 20 guns in about a year.  Sponge can look great or it can look awful.  Its really about the colors you select, and the attention to not applying too much paint with each dab of the sponge.

Something to remember, once you paint the value of your gun will go down.

Not an AR, but this was my first time painting a gun this past weekend.  Rustoleum Khaki, OD, and Earth Brown.

@bigmoney327 What's your AO? The terrain in your avitar looks familiar. I'm in Kane county.

Not bad I guess. My wife's office bathrooms are sponge painted. Everytime I see sponge painted anything, I think of that bathroom.
