I saw some Bushnell equinox Z night vision binoculars for sale at cdnn. This isn't anything like old night vision is it?
Are these things any good? Is this particular binoculars any good?

The only digital system worth buying for consumers is the Sionyx Aurora, there is a detailed 9 page thread in here detailing the capability.

Anything less and you will be dissapointed bigtime.

There is currently no (portable) digital night vision that are clear and responsive enough to strap to your head and walk around with at night. The cheap digital night vision systems are just cameras with an IR light. Basically, you have an invisible flashlight and a camera that can see it.

Digital night vision will probably need another decade. There are basically no systems currently in unclassified existence that meet this criteria. The current digital systems that make a crisp image are gigantic electrooptics mounted to vehicles and aircraft.
