Picked these up this week and finally got to play with them last night. Gonna go out and shoot again tonight possibly.
These things are freaking awesome, and the slaved lasers are so much easier to deal with. On both, I just adjusted the vis laser to meet the RMR dot/front iron at 10 yards (that's where I zero my pistol optics) and they were dead on a 2x2 inch piece of foil I taped to the target to confirm zero with IR. I think one of these would be pretty cool on a PDW like an MP5K or an SBR'd PS90. They're a little thicc and heavy, but the controls feel good. Switching modes is a pain in the ass with gloves on tho. I do like how all the vis settings are right and all IR settings are left on the switch. Does anyone know of a company making holsters for these yet? Besides Safariland? I reached out to Safariland and was told "no ETA". Attached File |

I should be getting mine pretty soon.
I got holsters made for it in advance from Off The Grid. |

Ares tactical made a few custom kydex holsters for me for a DBAL-PL and for a similar design as yours. I've had good luck with them.

If surefire had a DG switch for a Mark 23 I would get one of these just for a modern wilcox nightstalker vibe.

Just ordered one of the tan ones as my RMR is tan and I eventually plan on having the pistol/can cerakoted.

Decided I'm not going to drop $$$ into a holster I don't truly want.
I want the XVL2 compatible Safariland 6395RDS. So I'll wait. In the meantime, I got a Crye Precision GunClip and I'll throw that on my warbelt for the time being. Maybe I'll throw the suppressed XVL2-equipped G17 on there and run around with it. |

View Quote Hopefully soon. I love the ALS holsters. I suppose for messing around on the range, the Crye GunClip will have to do until they release. I believe in his review of the XVL2, Augee mentioned that you guys may be carrying those specific Safariland models when they're released. Is that still in the works? |

I think it would work better on one of the low profile Mk23 picatinny rails though. If you buy one and go to zero it, adjust it some first then fire a shot or two. I thought for a bit the mechanism wasn’t adjusting. It just needed a jolt of recoil to actually make it move correctly. After a time or two of this it seemed to adjust fine. Behaved similar to how the Eotechs did. Needed a bit of a tap to make sure the springs in the adjustment mechanism moved right (I guess). Now I just have to wait until dark to try it out. Serious question. Is it 4-5x better than a tlr-VIRII?
I was interested until I saw the price was almost double what i expected to see |

The answer to that question is - yes. The illuminator sucks ass on my VIR 2 unless you're indoors. The laser is pretty decent tho. But the XVL2 blows the VIR 2 out of the water in every category. The IR illuminator on the XVL2 is reminiscent of the MAWL on close range setting (apparently according to others- I'm too poor to justify a MAWL) The XVL2 could replace my DBAL-A3. Its full featured and has options to put it on long guns too. |

Quoted: Yup. So far G19/23 and G17/22 are confirmed based on end-user requirements (and you can always cut the end off to fit something longer like a comp... ). No word and to my knowledge no real plans at the moment for other models with the possible exception of Sig P320 variants with no real ETA. https://i0.wp.com/tnvc.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Surefire-xvl2-website4.jpg?fit=2000%2C2000&ssl=1 ~Augee View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Hopefully soon. Quoted: Safariland hates HK:( It’s always been this way you see. You think they would at least do one for the VP9. View Quote Well no one really carries HKs, much less one with an XVL2. Safariland has a certain threshold minimum for pistol/light holsters, or a manufacturer needs to work directly with them to cover R&D costs. Either the gun or light company needs to assist with holster development and production costs for a holster to be viable. This is usually done when specific units or agencies have a need for a piece of gear. Im fairly certain this is what happened with Staccato and their P-Duo. They knew for their gun to be taken seriously as a duty holster it would need duty holster options, so they put up funding to Safariland and Blackhawk to ensure their guns had holsters. This is also what I assumed happened with the XVL2 holster. The units using Glock specifically requested a holster and either approached Safariland directly, or had Surefire work with Safariland as part of the requirements. Until the VP9 gets adopted in number by units utilizing XVL2s, it's just not going to happen. I'll assume there are single digits of this combo right now, more likely none. |

But it feels better to be a victim. I am really surprised that there hasn’t been a standardized holster locking interface developed by now, say 2 small lugs on the slide and that dimension the same on all pistols so that regardless of what you have you can get a body to fit over the weight bearing and locking portion of the holster frame for duty type pistols. Something like a ALS and Surefire Holster hybrid to cover most all duty pistols. |

@HootieWho you da man!! I LOVE HK's and always have. Been doing some HG training as of late with my new VP and REALLY like the gun!! Also been using the new T.REX ARM Ragnarok for the VP9. So you know I HAVE a call into my buds over at T.REX with a SPECIAL request! No promises, but hey what da heck, gotta stand up for us HK 2nd wives club! Obviously not a duty holster...
T.REX is making a Ragnarok for the SF light in question as well for the Glock 9/40's. Just ran the holster for the first time this past weekend at a training gig and liked it a bunch! And since we're talking HK porn, always good to show the other wives club! The K JUST cleared the ATF cell block last Friday! MP5SD Premier build from Ralph over at RDTS who does some amazing work! One more SD is still in jail that will get a night fighter special treatment but the one above is going to stay 80's relic, minus the Streamlight and Surefire 80's high claw mount with a vintage switch system. Funny the 2 companies played nice in the sandbox way back when! |

I went ahead and bit the bullet and ordered one of the LBT Mk23 holsters in MC. It was expensive to say the least, but I plan on actually attaching it to my first spear coyote/hog hunting vest. I'll have to have a local Tailor modify it for the RMR once I get the pistol back. Will be nice to have it ready with the can on to bust skunks and coons. |
