My first experience suppressing a DI gun or <16” barrel. I Ordered a 10.5” PSA upper for a pistol build. I intend to throw my Sico Omega on it. What do I need to do to make it run well and not beat it to hell? Heavier buffer? Adjustable gas block? Thanks.

I've thought about this, I'd use it a time or two and see how it runs, if you need to adjust anything i would try buffer weights or just go for it and finish off the problem and get one of the adjustable carriers

Personally, I like to run an adjustable gas block (SLR sentry on 5 of my suppressed rifles), and run the lightest buffer that will function reliably suppressed and unsuppressed. Two of my 10.5" rifles needed H2 buffers, and one runs 100% with a carbine.

Try it first.  Then heavier buffer next.  I have 3 LMTs and they just needed an H2 buffer and run 100% with or without can, no messing with gas block

My 10.5 inch gun runs with/without a Gemtech Halo using a standard buffer.  I had lots of gas in my face until I changed to a vented CH.  I can't remember which one I am running.

Have a Griffin M4SD-K riding on a 10.5 PSA premium barrel - runs nicely with both an H and H2 buffer, standard carbine spring.

I have a Seekins adjustable gas block on mine and adjusted it with the ammo I like.  This cut down the amount of blowback but if I did it again I think I would just do one of those adjustable bolt carriers instead.

Heavier buffer might do it. I'd try adjustable gas block last.

You should already be running an H2 in a 10.5" gun if it will continue to operate reliably, try an H3.
Keep the bcg lubed.

My 10.5 lmt functions 100% suppressed and unsupressed with a carbine. H2 will not lock bolt back to rear.

From the Crane report, the heavier buffer slows down the bolt and saves wear and tear.
Like I said above, IF your gun runs reliably.
If the bolt won't lock back that's not acceptable.
But I'd try an H buffer still before going to a CAR weight.

I have a 10.5 BA barrel. Threw in a H2 and shoot the heck out of wolf steel both suppressed and unsupressed.

Gemtech suppressed bolt carrier.   I also run the A5 buffer system with the heaviest buffer.   Shoots like an air rifle.

I would run an adjustable gas block and rtv charging handle to mitigate blowback.  Several vids up on the rtv job.

Yeah adjustable gas block makes a huge difference. Gas buster charging handle helps as well. Heavy buffer is also good too.

I'm sure it's been said but your biggest gain will be from an adjustable gas block.

my 10.5" 5.56 runs fine with a regular bcg and H2 buffer.
Suppressed and unsuppressed.
semi auto and full auto.
no issues.

I didn't start with adjustable/bleeder gas blocks until I built my 6.5G SBR but haven't decided to use it on my 300blk or 5.56 sbrs yet.
I'm actually using H2 buffers on the 300 and 6.5 as well.  the 300 is 7.25 and the 6.5 is 12.  I have not tried them on full auto yet.

Both my SBR's have standard BCG's, buffers, and non-Adj. GB's and they run 100% with or w/o the can and lock back 100% with or w/o the can. One barrel is BCM the other Voo-Doo Innovations.

ETA- cans are YHM and SRT Typhoon.

Dino suggests always buying a h3 and configure as needed.
I need to get an H put in and see if it helps with recoil.

Get an adjustable gas block.  Also it’s still gonna be loud.

I run an H2 in my SBR and an H3 in my M16, doesn't seem to make any real differences. 10.5/11.5/12.5 all function fine suppressed/unsuppressed

I second all the people saying try it first.  Ive needed H3 buffers in mine FWIW.

This is shocking to me considering all the over-gassing lately even from trusted manufacturers.

I cant get my 11.5" to not lock back even with suppressor removed, H3 buffer, blue springco, Russian steel cased ammo.
Without measuring the port this is my unscientific assumption its oversized.

+1 for H2 buffer, works in a couple different SBR setups with or without a can.

Does it feed reliability with that setup? To me that would be to much weight and can't get it to lock back.

Yes it runs fine setup like that. I use an H2 normally only because it runs fine with it and its a hair lighter.
If it wasnt for the KAC URXII rail which I dont have tools to remove, I would be using an adjustable gas block for sure.

If I had your barrel I would be making it a nice lightweight build.
You could probably run a lightweight carrier, blue springco, and carbine buffer.

I came to type this as well. Except bcg is a failzero nickel boron exo.

Barrel is BCM and can is M4-2000

My rock river 10.5 runs good with a H2 buffer. The Colt 6920 cut to 10.3 needed a H3 buffer.

Using a YHM Phantom QD.

Mine is the exact opposite of "lightweight." it's got a DD lite rail, dbal, 952v, and only thing light is the t1.

OP, i don't know if anyone has said anything or if you did but are you using a free floated barrel or an upper with a front sight block?

Use the muzzle brake mount.   Otherwise you're going to beat the crap out of your blast baffle.

H2 buffer and a regular spring should work out of the box.    If you're ordering an assembled upper, a Gemtech or Bootleg carrier is the easy answer to overgassing.    It almost certainly will be overgassed with the can on - it should run, but it can run better.
