Would a 7.62 NATO rifle like a FAL be able to safely fire a 7.62 CETME cartridge? What about a bolt action?

My friend had a relative die and I can get my hands on quite a bit of 7.62 CETME for very cheap. Unfortunately he doesn’t have any rifles in that caliber to sell with it.

Wikipedia 7.62 CETME Cartridge

7.62 CETME is dimensionally similar to 7.62X51 NATO

However it operates at a LOWER Pressure.

A FAL has a adjustable gas system.  You can adjust for more gas if needed.

A Bolt Gun doesn't care at all as long as bullet leaves the barrel.

Something gas operated for 7.62 NATO w/o adjustment (like a AR-10 or M-1A) MAY have issues (it would be sort of a "weak round" to them) but depending on the gun it MAY or MAY NOT run smoothly without jams.

That’s about what I figured but wanted smarter people than me to weigh in first. Thank you.

If you reload.... Be Careful about reusing the 7.62x51 CETME cartridge case....

Quote ... ( "Cartucheria Espanola (Spanish Ammunition)," Angel Molina Lopez and
Alfonso Orea Maestro, Merino Publishers, Palencia, Spain, 1995 )

"In 1961, an attempt
was made by the National Factory of Toledo (a Spanish arsenal) to achieve
NATO-esque ballistics by employing a 147 grain bullet at 2,625 fps (800
mps) using the standard CETME case. The attempt failed due to the light
CETME case being too weak to handle the pressures generated by the loading
used. A loading of notably less power than the NATO standard loading."

And FWIW... they also made a experimental  "Long Bullet" version...

I don’t reload yet but do have a Dillon 750 sitting in the box unopened so I will keep that in mind.

I think I’m going to go ahead and buy this ammo and give it a try in a bolt gun first and see how it goes.
