Freinds, I have two older books on Mauser bolt guns but, anywhere to find more info on a Steyr 1912 made presumably Chilean?
Just purchased this rifle from a buddy.
I have it soaking and apart in the shed.

The receiver ring doesn't have a crest.
All the other marking for a Chilean contract rifle are there.
Also can't see where the crest could have been skrubbed.
Stock does have the Chilean crest.
Had a diamond shaped depression where there was a tag tacked to the stock above the stock disk.
Has a smaller diamond shaped copper tag tacked below the rear sling mount with 62 on it.
No import stamp or markings.
7x57 of course and I hope the bore cleans up.
I have the bore soaking full of laqure thinner and am going to work on it in a few.

It is just a shooters grade type rifle.
I bought some of that crappy FN 35 marked x57 and I intend to remanufacture  that stuff.
