Friend of mine just picked one of these up. I see lots of references to them on the web but no explanation as what the significance of the CCV mark is.

Any ballpark on what the thing is worth? He got it cheap.

Haven't gotten a good look at the bore yet, but the light pitting I see doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling ??

Maybe post a question on the CMP site. I'd bet that someone knows what the C.C.V refers to. Good luck!

C.C.V is an unknown inspector of 1903 .30 Rifles 1906 to 1909

I think it's Charles Valentine.  His stamp also appears on some Krags.

Thanks! I cleaned this up a bit. Looks like someone added a later bolt to make it a shooter. It's nicer than I thought.  Going to try to value it now.
