So I recently purchased a PVS-14 with a L3 filmless WP u18 tube.

The spec sheet has Zero listed as actual in the checks for sport in zone 1,2,3.
Last night when I looked into the sky I could see a spot in zone 3. I cleaned both lenses and this did not change the observance.

My question is, should the tube have spot even though the spec sheet states they should be none?

TIA

TA

It’s possible that it’s small enough to not be counted.

IIRC If the number and size of the allowable blems in that zone are within limits it will not be listed. IMHO generally a zone 3 blem will disappear while in use into the back ground unless you're using it to inspect white painted walls of your home.

Always possible some dust fell from inside the device onto the tube or lens

Spots under .003 aren't counted.

That's kinda what I am thinking to, during assembly.

This is a tough one.  If you crack it open and it's dust, score.  If you crack it open and it's still there, bust.  Only one way to know for sure, if you want to go there.  Depends if purge is a necessary requirement for you.  Some swear by it; others seem to ignore it.
