Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Soft Armor with plates?

Finally got my 3+ plates in. My Firstspear Strandhogg currently has my duty lvl 2 armor inserted. Is it overkill to have the plates and the soft vest?

The soft armor does wrap around my sides.

*update, actually I'm thinking about just getting soft inserts for the sides. And have the extra soft armor vest for my battle buddy.

I use both. It does not add much weight. I use the FS Siege-R optimized.
