I purchased a converted Saginaw 1919A4 on Gunbroker today. Pretty much got it on a whim without any planning or reserach . Post sample, of course. So it didn't hurt the wallet too bad.

So I need a tripod and a pintle to go with it.  Any decent reproductions out there? Don't need anything fancy but don't want a pile of crap either.

There's the M2 tripod, of course; Israeli marked ones will be much less than USGI.
But my fave was the converted German AA tripod, since I didn't have to get prone to use it.

Original M2 tripods and pintles are still widely available for not too much. T&Es are a little tougher to come by.  As the poster above me stated tons of them were imported from Israel a few years back.  All are prior USGI and most have the sand holes in the feet.

Apex had some recently. I'm actually waiting on one of these

It uses an existing m2 or m122, pintle, and t&e.  Raises the gun up some and holds cans for ammo, brass, and links / belts.

I'd reccomend getting a link or belt loader

Correct answer is what I've been working on.

Still working to attach the m31c and get a proper 30/50 cradle

I've been searching for a 30/50 cradle or a even an M1917 cradle for my jeep.

I found some old gunbroker auctions for those. Do you have his contact info?

I have a custom mount that goes on an AA tripod available. It holds the 3 ammo cans. I don;t need it anymore. I upgraded to something heavier duty.

I can let it go for $400 shipped. It is big. I think I paid $700.

it is the older generation of this and is the complete setup for an AA tripod. Not for a M2 tripod.

I've got a German MG34 AA tripod I like. It has a dual can mount and T&E mechanism.

I've used a MG42 AA tripod before but you get lots of recoil and 'movement' everywhere.  I wanted something steady and large enough I could sit behind mine.  I have a BREN tripod and it works great.

SARCO has a chinese knock off of the 1919a4 tripod complete with T&E for $350.00.  I picked one up at KCR and it seems to be fine

The other option is the Bren tripod they are now tougher to find and expensive

M-122's are usually cheaper than M-2's

It'll also bolt up to one of the Colt M-35 1917-ish tripods that came out of Argentina...they are nice

Whim or not, what should one look for/check for when considering a 1919?

I'm looking for an M122, if anyone happens to notice a good deal while searching for an M2 tripod.

These have a pretty good reputation. I have a Bren tripod with a homemade adapter but these tripods are not cheap anymore

Dad bought a Chinese one for his 1919 and it’s loose as a goose... not sure where it came from.

For the money you’re probably best off with an Israeli one. I have an Israeli one I got years ago and it’s rock solid with a snug pintle / T&E fit.

Also look for the old FN30 tripods.

Its a heavy son of a gun, but it is rock solid and has a great T&E system
