@gaspain

With both Auroras on the same horizontal plane and with the correct IPD set, the setup touches my nose. No amount of bridge wizardry can change that.

What am I missing?

EDIT:

Edited who I quoted in this post as I accidentally quoted mickdonaldson instead of gaspain.

Is it adjustable for IPD?

Very nice work!

A lot may have to do with your face/head, everybody's different...but I have a pretty big Schnoz . Maybe raise up, and angle a little down, to paralell the nose slope? I personally don't care if I lose the border status info on the top, so I raise it until that disappears - If I need it, I just pull the lid down to look. I also found I can move it forward and still retain 1 image with left and right edges, without burying it in my socket. I've also found you can go out on the IPD for one, losing a smidge of an inner edge, but the brain fills in, using the other edge - can't even tell. But again, this is all probably very personal to each user.

Edit: I also have mine counter-weighted, so that balanced on 1 finger in the direct center of the helmet, everything sits perfectly level. I think it's 25 9mm 147's in with the Anker 15K Redux.

I'm not concerned with how they fit me.

I was asking how a new bridge mount could possibly avoid nose-to-Aurora contact given the fact that...

A) If two Aurora's are on the same horizontal plane

...and

B) You had nose-to-Aurora contact with proper IPD set on your previous bino setup

Forget about bridges for a minute... If the Aurora's are floating statically in space, adjusted properly for you... and you have nose-to-Aurora contact... A bridge isn't going to fix that. The only fix I see would be to remove material from the Aurora that is contacting your nose.

I read Gaspain's comment as... He has a bridge that addresses nose-to-Aurora contact.

You quoted *me*, replying to slapomatt - about a height concern. I added "pushed forward" because On a RHINO II with MACHOS, I had to pull it back to almost the rear end of the Arm, whereas on the G24/SkeetIR, it sits in the middle'ish. The combo of both leads to ending up in different areas of adjustment between the two setups. I was telling slapomatt that he would probably have more adjustment to play with. I *wasn't* implying that the Aurora's magically gain eye relief. Then I just offered you some tips to try to alleviate your problem, as I have a giant honker, but no contact. I didn't even see gaspain's post, since it was the very last one on the page - I had no idea what any of that was about. Now I do, new Bridge, cool, options are good.

@PFran42

its mirrored design moves both switches to the center, which frees up space for the nose. No more battery corner digging into the nose.

$1800 helmet...or a Chinese Army version?

also it is maxed out on all 3 adjustments, so that's not for me with high eyes. Looks amazing.

Officially licensed PTS version. Assembled in Hong Kong. I think it was $150 to my door. Perfect ultra lightweight solution for mounting NODs. The “secret sauce” with the FLUX (all versions) is the overall shape of the helmet. It cups the base of your skull. Pads are very nice memory foam and comfortable compared to most other bump helmets. Also, rear strap attachment points are ultra low allowing for very stable platform.

Re: all adjustments being maxed out, that was just me slapping the pieces together for a photo shoot. There is a lot of range to work with for all adjustments.

Here is a good review:

I started to design the same thing in Solidworks to print a few months ago and got sidetracked.

It looks almost exactly like what I had in mind, right down to the insert bushings. Well done!

Looks good.  Don't know much about 3d printing.  I bought a grip for my CZ Scorpion and didnt know it was 3d printed and wasn't too fond of it.  Especially when they started injection moulding the same grip and mine felt like an inferior product.

Just watched a quick video on carbon fiber polycarbonate and that stuff seems way more legit.

It's is an advanced engineering media. Not your normal stuff. It is strong and rigid and won't bend in a hot car. This mount is much better than my last one as far as strength.

can y'all give me some recommendations for a budget bump cap and a mount for a single camera?

I would start by reading the most recent 10-15 pages of this thread. Or the whole thread if you have time and want to educate yourself. The first 20ish pages talk about a part that is no longer available.... But again the newer pages talk about components that are available now

I have a big head and use an airsoft helmet in L/XL sizing. I wish it was bigger. Unsure if a name brand helmet would be bigger.

Let me know if you're in Dallas

Can someone describe how towel et Mount this like I’m stupid? I have all the pieces including Wilcox shoe interface, norotos interface adapter etc. I can’t figure out how t o remove the sliding piece on the helmet mount as it has one small set screw on each end. Also, I don’t see how the kiloohm thing mounts to the Aurora.

Disregard part two; duh.....I’ve figured that out.
