I am in need of a single rifle safe and looking for suggestions.  I am an SRO and my Chief has approved me having a rifle in my office.  I still need approval from the school but should not be an issue.
I looked at Hornadys RFID safe and love the quick access.  A regular combination dial probably wouldn't work.  Any other manufacturers that make good single rifle safes?  Space is a major concern or I would go bigger.

lol I have three different ones:

this model: Phoenix Lacerta GS8001K 3 Gun Safe with 2 Key Locks https://www.phoenixsafe.co.uk/product/lacerta-gs8001k/ Can't find a US link its pretty solid but with two separate (finicky) keys its not great for quick access.

V-Line Ind. Wall Closet Vault Plus Security Safe Gun Safe and Money Safe This Safe Provides Security for Your Firearms and Valuables, Simplex Lock Fits Between 2 Wall Studs, White  https://www.amazon.com/Security-Provides-Firearms-Valuables-Simplex/dp/B0BN9TFBNW  Probably the best.... simplex locks are fast and not battery reliant... but its in-wall and requires some skill in installation.

V-Line 31242-SA Quick Access Keyless Long Gun Safe (Black, 42-Inch) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000T2A6BW?tag=arfcom00-20 The good is its wall mounted and has a simplex lock but its not super solid and not really secure unless u also use the two key locks which defeat the quick access requirement.

Let me know what u come up with......

I like these but I have students coming into my office and a visible rifle might not be a good idea.  I do have to be somewhat PC unfortunately.

Not super robust or fire rated, but I have a few of their agile units that I like.

I've been looking at this...   Could also be mounted vertically as well. They make pretty solid stuff but a 30 round mag is probably a problem.... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BW262GU?tag=arfcom00-20

Eurekasafes.com

I have a few. Very solid and wouldn't even know it is there behind a door.

Fort Knox Controlled Access Box 28:

https://www.safeandvaultstore.com/products/fort-knox-28-cab-controlled-access-box-cab-box-28

Simplex lock. Can stand it vertically and the door swings open like a normal door. And it can be bolted to a wall into the studs to secure it. The steel is quite thick too. I have one at work and one for my SUV. They are great

Whatever you do, avoid the Secureit Fast Box. Super thin steel and the electronic keypad on it sucks. I have one and hate it. The electronic keypad is totally unreliable.

I would avoid all the cheap thin gauge electronic and biometric “safes”.

SBR would be a good choice if it’s allowed. Add a can in the safe too.

Could also choose a 16” AR with LAW folder, Sig MCX, CZ Bren, AUG, Tavor, among others.

Steyr AUG seems like the most appropriate SRO rifle. ??

Well I guess my Chief talked to the head of school security and the school will buy the safe.  This is what they picked.  My input doesn't matter but hopefully this is a get what you pay for thing.

Good lord.  Talk about overkill.  Guess they really, really, wanted it secure…

Just a suggestion, get your armorer to issue you a 2nd rifle, so you can leave one in that safe at school, and have another one handy in your patrol vehicle.  Just as likely that you will be closer to the vehicle, or driving to the scene, as being in your office when something happens.

It is what we did for the SRO’s.  And there was a school shooting, they didn’t use that rifle but being onscene they locked down the suspect almost immediately, though they did not realize it.  He shot himself as a result….so kind of a typical end for a school shooting incident, and minimal casualties.
