it's not detachable... otherwise it might be able to be installed on a non-muzzleloader and would be NFA regulated. The Maxim 50 is an entire system. It is the muzzleloader with the "moderator" permanently installed on the barrel. So there is no need to thread anything.

You get the stainless suppressor AND the stainless muzzle loader (uses 209 shotshell primers) - all for under $1000. But there's NO ATF tax and no waiting period.  Just cash and carry.

I'll be interested later when I can secure the funds

Better check state laws, this is NOT 50 state legal as SilencerCo claims.

$1,000 for a muzzle loader?  I'll pass

To those states ie CA, MA and NJ, you have always stated you won't go after hunting rifles.  More BS as we all know.  This is only a pure hunting rifle.

NO.  It is $1000 for an all-stainless suppressor (NFA calls them silencers), plus you don't have to wait 10 - 12 months to own the suppressor, nor hand over your fingerprints, photo, etc.

Did I mention there's no $200 tax?

- all that, and it comes attached to something like a T/C Contender muzzle loader that even uses 209 primers!

Seems like a great deal to me!

Are the baffles removable for cleaning?  They don't call them smoke poles for nothing.

In their video they show the break down and how to clean and oil the receiver section, but say nothing about cleaning barrel.
Black powder is very corrosive and I think that the baffles will take a beating.

Don't believe they're approved for black powder, only a particular black powder substitute whose name escapes me at the moment.

Well, Boone was a well-known patriot.

And one way to honor our right to keep and bear arms is to own all types of arms - as originally intended by our forefathers.

I dare say if he was around today, Mr. Boone would be proud to own a gun like this.

I didnt get into muzzle loaders just to get a longer season.
I got into it because I think the older designs are cool.

My flintlock is a pile of fun to shoot and is of a traditional design. To me, modern muzzle loaders are just kind boring.

If its your thing then more power to ya, just aint for me

Fair enough. I can see the nostalgic side of it. I'm the opposite. I just want to get that extra two weeks of deer season and extra week of bear season where I can only hunt with a muzzleloader. I basically want it to be as close to a single shot rifle as I can legally get.

My Maxim will be here Monday! This will be my first black powder rifle and season hunting with one.

No way would I bring one 3 miles down the street into MA. IIRC and I don't feel like looking it up right now, but I think MA banned silencers even before NFA.

I do hope that Silencerco or someone makes a threaded version. Given the choice between a $200 tax stamp for it being removable or having it permanently attached to a muzzleloader that may or may not shoot well, I'd choose the former.
