Ran my new 18 inch Faxon Gunner without suppressor and did a 25 meter zero with my Acog . Sighted one cm low with no issue . Placed my Hybrid Can which is very light and noted almost a 3-4 POI down shift immediately. Should I attribute this as normal or start looking for other issues. Can is a direct thread 22/5.56 . Never noticed this big of a shift before.
Thanks in advance

Cans “may” cause POI shift.  If they don’t, you’re lucky.  Taking it off and putting it back on also “may” cause shift regardless of what your manufacturer says.

I expect a 1 pound can on a thin profile barrel to drop POI 2” at 100 yards. If you are getting 4-5” at 25 yards that’s unusual. 4-5” at 100 yards can happen with heavier 28 ounce cans on pencil barrels.

17 oz is not light.

18” free floated barrel will shift a bit with all that weight on the end.

I put my sandman on a 16” geissele SD, the group went from 1” to 5”, and adding the can dropped the group 2-3”. I took it all off and put the BE meyers 240 back on and went back to shooting a tight group.

I think I over torqued the keymo on the shims, the 240f uses a crush washer. The difference was a poi shift to the 2 o clock about 3”. Wish I had a heavier barrel in there.

Handguard is an ALG VO E.Had a lot of issues getting the correct shims and torque and it backing off despite having the required wrench . Maybe its just that particular handguard. This is my last try with it .

All better now. Had to tighten more than the supplied wrench suggested. To be fair it may be my upper was out of spec but shoots well now

Wait. What? Did you torque it down?

I've got two dope cards for each rifle.  One without and one with.

ALG suggests you use the wrench for that nut. I got the wrench and used the index markings on the wrench to indicate the torque needed. Tried it twice and it failed both times . Went past that with a longer bar and now it holds
