I need to do some filing on a rear sight blade and it's harder than the hubs of hell (Ruger security six).  How do I go about annealing it so's the file will work, and how do I re-harden it?
Thanks in advance!

Diamond file? Isn't the rear sight adjustable, or do you need more adjustment than the sight allows? Is it shooting to high or too low? Inquiring minds want to know.

Actually there is a considerable glare from the top edge that I'd like to "slope" away from my eye.  I do have a small diamond file that I forgot about.  Might try that.

I'm using a diamond stone, and it is working but it is slow going!
