I have not shot it yet but that will soon change. I am just wondering the best distance to start out with. I want to keep the mid range trajectory at no more than 0.75" with CCI 40gr Maxi Mags

The sight over bore is a little higher than normal.

ETA: HK 300

I sight mine in at 75 yards.

I primarily use it to shoot porcupines, raccoons and woodchucks.  If you haven't used a .22 Mag on game before it is a shockingly big performance jump over .22lr.  No contest at all.

I bet you will be a big fan of the cartridge in no time.

ETA: what is that rifle?  It looks like an old school EURO bolt gun of some type.  Hump-back stock, rounded receiver....a CZ that is not a CZ/BRNO?

ETA2: Ah, I knew it looked familiar.  The HK 300 .22 mag?  I haven't seen one of those since the 80s.  I remember the people who had them loved them.

I sight all mine in at 50. It really just depends on the intended purpose though and typical ranges that will be encountered.

Assuming a 2.5” sight height and .40 gr solids a 100 yard zero wil give:

25 yd = -0.3”
50 yd = 0.9”
75 yd = 1.1”
100 yd = 0.0”
125 yd = -2.8”

With 30 gr HPs is a bit flatter, but not much:

25 yd = -0.6”
50 yd = 0.6”
75 yd = 0.8”
100 yd = 0.0”
125 yd = -2.5”

Either way, it’s a decent zero keeping it within an inch of the line of sight (more or less) out to 100 yards and not bad out to 125 yards.
