If they are indeed discontinuing it, maybe it has to do with the fact that Minimalist Plus' are shipping with the SURG and it'd be better to streamline production for those only.

on the plus, the buttpad part is taller, and I think it may be a little longer overall.

technically yes. The stock is attached to the hinge via a screw. However, flipping the hinge means that the portion that normally sticks down now sticks up, which may get in the way of the charging handle, depending on where you install it on the rear rail.
