Anyone have any recommendations on optics for the Scar 17. I’m looking for magnification preferably variable in the $1,500 range. The vortex  razor 1-6 and Trijicon accupoint 1-6 are on my short list. Anyone have experience with either optic on their scar? Or are there any others I should be looking at? Thanks for your imput.

I have a Bushnell ELITE TACTICAL SMRS 1-8.5x 24mm on mine.  I like the extra 2.5x on the Scar 17 vs. a 6x.  I have a 1-6x on the Scar 16.  I've hit targets out to 800yds with the 17 and that extra 2.5x really helps for me.

Also may want to look at the new Nightforce NX8™ 1-8X24 F1.  I picked one up a couple of weeks ago for a different rifle.  Haven't mounted it yet but the clarity is great.  True daylight visible illumination and it is really light for a 1-8x.

Lots of good optics out there...and the ones you suggested would work fine.  Make sure you get a reticle that like.  I wasn't a big fan of any of the reticles on the AccuPoint which is why I never considered one.

If I was buying now it would be the Nightforce 1-8. I have a Sig Tango 1-6 on mine however, and its been great. If you shop around the price point is hard to beat for the features.

For a shorter range, quick shooting I love my 1-8 Accupoint on my 16" barreled 17S For more precision shooting or longer range shots I'm using a Steiner 3-15  M5xi on my 20" 17S.

I've used the NF 2.5-10×32 and 42 and they're both great choices too.

I went with the 1-8 Trijicon on my Scar 17. I decided to go with Trijicon because of the 8x magnification and it is first focal plane. On 1x it has a segmented circle reticle, kind of like an Eotech. It has comparable eye relief to the vortex razor 1-6 with a bright reticle (not as bright as the vortex but bright enough). The reticle is etched so you can see it clearly when the power is off and it has very clear glass. I also have the Razor but that's on my ar. Both are great, you can't go wrong with either choice.

Waited, saved my pennies and got an Elcan 1.5x6 for my 17; I don't regret it.

just sayin'.
