Savage 430 20ga O/U

Here's where I'm at

Soaking wood to remove oil stains. Then, stain in Dark Walnut.
Need to: shorten factory buttstock screw, and solder front sight and plug between barrels.
I snapped the spring for the forearm closure. So I've ordered 2 from Numrich

I've always wanted a legal version of this setup with 12ga and 18inch barrels.
Isn't there a TV show where a actor has one or something similar?

"Wanted Dead or Alive" maybe? But I think his was supposed to be a .45-70.

I really want an SxS the O/U seems like it would be awkward to hold. They sure do look cool though. Think the first time I saw one was MacGyver. There was a bounty hunter that ran around with a chopped O/U if I remember right.

I don't remember any using one that long. I am surprised nobody makes them with the whole shockwave craze.

Honestly, this is the first one I've ever held or shot. It's not bad, at all. I was shooting it one-handed w/o a glove (same skeet ammo from Youtube vid). Thinking about wrapping the trigger-guard w/ leather, like my lever guns. There's potential for a little discomfort between the index and middle finger.

Arnold had one in Eraser:

Supposedly a Rocky Mountain Arms “Stakeout”

I bought an old 12ga Baikal O/U with ejectors to try to emulate that gun. Still haven’t built it, but unlike Arnold, I’d only be able to shoot mini-shells out of it.

I have wanted a sawn off O/U for 20 years.... I need to remedy that! I’d like a base gun common enough that I can get a replacement stock for it. Would be nice to have the option to run a stock.

@User55645

You mentioned wanting to take a finished picture of this in another thread. I'd love to see how it turned out!

@Third_Rail
You're absolutely right and I need to.
Was going to, last night, but I got busy w/ finishing my wife's gifts for our 10th anniversary (today).
I'll set an alarm and try not to forget.

@backbencher @Third_Rail
Thanks, guys.
I'm happy w/ the looks and, so far, it's reliable. I would like to get into it and clean-up some of the mechanics, but there's always another project
