Yes, I have both, and I would get the Sandman-S.  The L is too long for an SBR, and while it may be "quieter" the tone on the S is much more pleasant overall IMO.  I bought my L for larger calibers and long range shooting, my S is primarily used on my DD MK18.

I don’t see much need for an L honestly. I’d probably pick up a second S before an L. I’ve never really wished my S were quieter, but I’d probably wish my L were smaller and lighter.

Sandman S for SBRs/pistols. I recently tried my S can on my 12.5 AR pistol and gotta say, it was about the same as my 16inch barrel AR. It might have been a bit more louder given the shorter barrel length, but I could not tell to the naked ear.

I think my Sandman S is damn near perfect but my next .30 may be an Omega. The idea of a 12oz direct thread appeals to me in such a short package

The Sandman-L would be better on a bolt action rifle, no blowback to worry about and better suppression at the muzzle.

Don't forget that you can also convert the Omega to the Dead Air Key-Mo mount.

I have both and would go with the S.

This is how I look at it, if you are bench resting the gun or have a 16 inch barrel it's not too bad, the L feels at home on my 10.5 300 blk though

Not a huge difference, but the Sandman-L now lives on my REM700 20"

I think weight on a sbr would be an issue because I'm looking for lightweight package for maneuverability.  Sandman L with a muzzle brake a tank.

I own both. You made the right choice OP.
In hindsight, I should of bought two S models instead of the S & L.
