Just picked up a new M&P15-22 and want to add a QD socket close to where a QD endplate would normally be. Since the receiver and "buffer tube" are plastic and one piece, a clamp on style mount like the Daniel Defense EZ Carbine seems like the best bet.

Has anyone used one of these on the plastic tube of this rifle?

Bump because I'm interested as well.

I don't believe there's a problem. Here's some material: https://www.google.com/search?biw=1350&bih=599&ei=JuMNXMmVKouesQX4taKYCw&q=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fsmith-wessonforum.com%2Fsmith-wesson-m-p-15-22+buffer+tube+qd+mount&oq=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fsmith-wessonforum.com%2Fsmith-wesson-m-p-15-22+buffer+tube+qd+mount&gs_l=psy-ab.3...100756.105047..105443...0.0..0.80.865.12......0....1..gws-wiz.Pycz5JQAsPs

Found this on a Midway USA product review for the Daniel Defense EZ Carbine mount. I have an email in to DD about this. Would much rather use the DD product.

"I tried it on my M&P AR 15-22 and it did not work. The 1 piece molding together of the buttstock buffer tube and the receiver does not allow you to butt the mount tight against the receiver while having a functioning QD system. I saw 2 choices for the AR 15-22, either back the DD mount a little off the receiver and tighten OR order another QD mount. I choose to order the Midwest Industries Rear Sling Mount Adapter with Quick Detach from Midway. It works perfect and you can tighten firm against the receiver. Good luck."

Update to the update: Joe with DD verified that their sling mount wouldn't work without a castle nut, so no go on this rifle.

The 2-piece clamp-on version from DD should work, but listed as discontinued on Midway USA. I'd try to find a vendor that still has one in stock.

According to multiple posts on other forums, the Midwest MCTAR 13/30 mounts should work. Going to give them a try.

Got the Midwest MCTAR-30 mounted up and it seems to be holding solid. I'll be using it until I find a reason not to!
