I run a 6390 RDS and I do not need the RMR mounted for it to work.
If you're working with an open emitter RDS I'd consider the 6390 as it provides a cover over the top for the RDS. |

as has been said above it will work fine without
if you run a light on the gun there is an adjustment screw to tighten the kydex around the light to hold it more securely also |
