Good morning,

New to the forum, so good to be here, I apologize if this is an old topic, I did a search but being new, I may have missed it.

I'm looking at a Surefire SOCOM300-SPS suppressor.  I have a 300 blk and several 5.56's.  This will be my first venture into suppression.
I like this one because it supposedly works well on both calibers and the only thing I'm giving up on the 556 side is it's a little longer than the 556 dedicated suppressors.  Down the road if I should choose to, i can get a 556 specific can, but until then, I can achieve my goal on all my rifles with one can.

My question is, does anyone know if this will fit on the 556 socom brakes I've already got on all of my 556 rifles, or will I have to replace them with 762 brakes.

Before it gets off track, I've already got surefire brakes, I know a lot of people might recommend a different brand from surefire all together.  I appreciate everyone has their own preference and I don't knock you for it.  But I'd really like to stick with surefire.

Thanks in advance,
SB

I think so, I have both the 300-SPS and the 556-RC, but I've never tried to put my 300-SPS on the 556 guns MB...  My 300SPS, hardly comes of the AR its on, except to go on a 300 blk bolt gun.

I can try tonight, just to verify 100% .

I should know this.

Excellent, thank you.

I'm going to try to reach out to surefire too but they aren't open yet and I'm not sure customer service will know the answer anyway.

It'll work.

I've got a couple SF cans the 300 SPS being one of them. I've shot my 300 SPS on one of my 5.56 guns a couple of times and it's got a brake. It lives on my 300 BLK now. I'd love that can if it was a little shorter (556RC/762 Mini Size).

I know you mentioned it, but I'd go a different route on the cans.. but I get it.

It works. Use mine on all my guns 300wm-556 with 762 and 556 brakes

Thanks everyone for the replies and info.  I moved forward with the purchase based on your answers and confirmation from other sources.  Now I just have to wait.

Thanks again.

Yes, it works.

I shoot my SOCOM300SPS on my AR15, M16, .308 bolt gun & 6.5 bolt gun.

Buy all of the brakes/FH's you think you might need. You never know when they will phase them out.

Thats a good point.  I would like to imagine there would be some reverse compatibility built into future models, but i guess that doesn't help their sales.

Probably should buy at least one more muzzle device for that lower I have sitting in the safe so it'll work once I decide what to build out of it.

Thanks for that input, I hadn't considered it.

I just got into the 6.5 Creedmoor game, and my dealer and his rep said that the 6.5 socom brakes aren't compatible with the 300 sps, which seems odd since I use my sps on .223 brakes all the time.

Anyone here have a 6.5 socom brake and use it on a .30 can?

I have a 7.62 brake and was going to just use that on my 6.5 unless that could somehow cause stability problems or something that I am unaware of.

I have a Surefire SFMB-260-5/8-24 Flash Hider on my 6.5CM bolt gun using a SOCOM300SPS, without any issues.
