I have a SBR and the lower is engraved with trust name, city/state and cal. 223.  On a whim I purchased a 9.5" 300BO upper, but the the barrel markings are buried under the handguard and not visible.

Do I need to have upper engraved with caliber to be legal?

Thanks

The original markings reflect the way the gun was "made."

No markings are required if the original configuration is changed.
