The title says it all. I have some 7.62x39 ammo and I was thinking about buying this rifle. But then someone on youtube reviewed it and says it won't shoot Wolf ammo since the firing pin spring is too weak in this rifle. Can anyone confirm that please?

I'd buy one

Have one and love it. That being said it took a while to get it running. I purchased it and would get light strikes about ten percent of the time with multiple ammunition’s. My subsonic ammunition  was closer to 50%. Called ruger and they sent an identical firing pin and spring, with the explanation that they have a  new company making them. No change, send back to ruger they stated they replaced the bolt. Now flawless with all ammo. More accurate than I am and love running my turbo supressor on it.

How quiet is it with the suppressor?

No problems with Barnaul 123gr

Go for it. I'll admit I don't know how different the American may be from the M77, but my experience with older M77's in 7.62x39 has been good enough that I wouldn't hesitate.

FO   note they run mini 30 mags are surprisingly accurate.  If I found one I'd buy it.

The trajectory of the 7.62x39 cartridge sure is terrible though! A 25 yard zero puts it back on zero at 200 yards but 12" low at 300 yards.

What does it mean FO note?

Do it. Do not hesitate. I have my trigger tuned down under 1lb, 5 groove barrel shoots Silver Bear like you would NOT BELIEVE.

I'm hooked,  picked one up in 7.62x39 at a LGS, It is so handy & shoots so well that I purchased a .308 version the same LGS had on display. Now if I could find a 5.56 version for a sensible price!

I'm curious about how quiet it is with a suppressor. Is it as quiet as .300 blk? I'd imagine it might be quieter than a suppressed 5.56.

I really think they should have had this rifle on their product line 15 years ago or more, not as late as they did. But anyway, there aren't as many reviews of it online, and they don't have much useful information in them. But the gist of the reviews that are out there is that it's an accurate rifle, and the newer production runs don't have the problem with the hammer spring being too light to fire Wolf ammo. Some people are saying that while suppressed, it's slightly quieter than a 5.56 but a lot louder than .300 blk.

Do it. If you can’t find one and are willing to bump your budget, the CZ527M is another great option. I love mine.

I have about 200 rounds through mine. Shoots steel case into 1” at 100 yards off the bench. Zero fails to fire with a wide mix of steel cased ammo.

Sometimes it’s hard to tell how quiet a rifle is suppressed when you’re the shooter, but it handles Russian subsonic well and seems quieter than 300 BO out of an AR to me. I think they hit about 6” lower and to the right of the supersonic impact point at 100 yards.

It’s not going to knock a bull moose on its ass at 500 yards, but it’s an excellent 100-150 yard deer/pig gun.

The weird thing to me is, with 123-125 grain supers, it shoots in pretty much exactly the same spot no matter what brand of ammo I use.

Just don’t buy any ammo for it, ok. I’m trying to stock up.

How loud is the muzzle report with supersonic rounds, when you have your suppressor mounted?

No different than any other centerfire rifle suppressed. Like an unsuppressed .22 rifle.

I have been looking for one for awhile now.  Stores haven't been getting any new ones in stock and the two used ones I saw for sale on a local gun board were sold within hours.

Yup, seems like a lot of the AR mag version Ruger bolts move fast these days.
I have a Ranch in .300bo & a Predator in 6.5 Grendel that shoots steel case Wolf with zero misfires.

Just my opinion but seems way back when, the American Ranch & Mini-30s had some issues with some steel case.
But also seemed like it had more to do with this brand or that lot # of a certain brand, mostly primers set too deep.

Ruger reliability with steel case has gotten better over the years.

Also, it’s been posted here & on Ruger forums that Ruger sells a conversion kit for the 7.62x39 Ranch from the Mini-30 mags to AR 7.62x39 mags using the same magwell parts as the 5.56/.300bo. But I think you have to provide a valid s/n to buy one. One of those threads has the actual part number posted by someone who purchased one.

I have the 300AAC, great little rifle although using anything more than a 10 rd magazine gets kind of awkward.

Good luck on the 7.62x39,  I've had one backordered since December.

I wonder going on what the availability of ammo will be in months/years to come?

I can see the White House springing a EO to prevent importation of military type ammo

Truthfully I am surprised at the reports of how well these bolt guns shoot Russian ammo , never thought it was anything better than quick/cheap military ball .

Not a long range cartridge , but a quite nice medium power round .

Yup mine too. Only light strikes I have had are with Fiocchi Brass 124 Grain.  And in fairness to Ruger my CZ 527 had a light strike with it too.

I’ve been shooting pretty much whatever I can get my hands on
Tula
Brown Bear
Silver Bear
Golden Bear
Barnaul
Norma
Fiochi

No issues with any of it. Goes bang every time.

I just picked one up yesterday.  I’m stoked!  I’ve been looking for one of those, a Howa, or Cz 527.  The Ruger came up first, so I snagged it.

I have a Howa and the Ruger.  Both are awesome.

I use AR mags in my Ruger.  I didn’t really warm up to the mini-30 mags.

Did you convert the Ruger to take AR mags?

Just changed stocks.  Nothing else.

It’s not cheap and weighs a lot.

How do you like that conversion?  I literally got my RAR yesterday and was wondering before I invest in mini 30 mags if I should just do the ruger conversion

There is a Mag conversion?
Please enlighten me!

My Howa Mini in 762x39 shoots the steel case stuff fine.  Getting ~ 2" groups at 100 yards.

You can get the AR-15 bottom metal (plastic) from Ruger and use x39 ar mags if you’re so inclined. The mini30 mags work great though. If you already have x39 AR mags it makes sense to convert.

That's what I initially wanted, but couldn't find any.  I gotta say the more I handle the Ruger, the more impressed I am with it.  Very well thought out.
