I have a Ruger American and I love the gun but when working the bolt it makes a sort of zippy noise that does not sound good. I know the noise is normal and I did see a video on youtube of a guy making it go away with some sort of grease Video But I don't want to add extra wear or mess up the head spacing. How can I get rid of this zippy noise without damaging my rifle?

You could rub bore paste or a similar product on the bolt and work it a couple of hundred times but it will smooth out with just shooting.

I've run the bolt a few hundred times not really counting. I have only put about 50 rounds through it the noise just sounds weird. Guess I will keep running it till it stops
