As far as I know, the FAL barrel is too thin for 5/8-24 threads.
You either need to use a standalone 9/16-24LH to 5/8-24 thread adapter, or have a sleeve welded on the 9/16-24LH threads and have it threaded 5/8-24. If you search 9/16-24LH thread adapter you’ll find a bunch from $20-$50. Non-permanent solution FTW! |

I had mine threaded to 14mmx1LH, there's a lot more options than the standard FAL thread offerings.
