Picked up a Pedersoli Harper's Ferry pistol for a good price. It had a number of shallow pits and blemishes on the barrel, and a number of dents in the wood. I decided I could fix those.

Pedersoli uses some sort of thick shellac or varnish, and I really didn't like the look. I want to give it a proper finish. I stripped the finish off and pulled out the dents. Then I gave it Birchwood Casey walnut stain, 2 coats of BLO, and then waxed it.

The barrel was a bit more work. I filed out the pits and blemishes, and sanded to 2000 grit wet. I may go ahead and buff it, and give it a patina.

Overall, I think it came out looking pretty good so far.

Well, if its not a .54 smoothbore, you would need to have it bored and lined. The rib is WAY to thick, the rammer should be fully tapered. And there is something not quite right with the grip. I’ll need to dig out my books.

Well, I'm not going to take the time to try and make a reproduction into a near clone. I was simply trying to clean it up.
