Looking at getting a budget shotgun the SXP is $180 the 870 is $225 both are brand new.  I had an 870 a few years back and had issues, wound up selling it.

What issues with an 870?

The threads on the mag tube weren't long enough so a standard mag cap wouldn't hold the barrel  in place as there was a gap between the barrel band and mag cap.  The factory supplied +3 tube wouldnt touch the barrel band either however barrel/mag tube clamp was tight enough to get it past remington QA.

Get the 870. I've never been a fan of the Winchester 1200s because they just look like a cheaply built gun, I also know two people that had their lightly used 1200s turn into single shots.

An 870 with that kind of problem is very much an anomaly.

I'd guess that the problem was actually at the rear end of the barrel.... it just wasn't properly seating into the receiver.

I'd take a new 870 any time.  Apparently now that Remington is under new management they're getting the quality back.
Among the advantages over a Turkish made gun are that you can ALWAYS find inexpensive 870 parts, both new and used, and any accessory made for a pump shotgun will almost always be available for an 870.
This means a extremely larger selection of accessories and parts.
A Turkish made gun.... not so much, especially if Turkey continues to go Islamic-radical, and in that case you could see them cut off and no parts available.

the Winchester 1200 series is one of the best shotguns ever made.
extremely well built.

our family has used and abused 8 of them for damn near 50 years.
we hunted everything possible with them year round. 12 and 20's.

the 1300's were excellent too until decided to go cheap.
I have a Black Shadow with a 26 inch tube and both my son and I have turkey guns that we've tricked out.

never turn down a good deal on a 1200-1300.

you couldn't make me take the SXP, though.
