Anybody done this? How close would this be to a Tac13?
Thinking of it being my next stamp. |

When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk.

Knew a guy did it when we were kids.
Would operate properly after the surgery. Probably didn’t have enough gas getting back in the tube. |
Whoever double-crosses me and leaves me alive, he understands nothing about Tuco. Nothing!

1100’s seem to be finicky during regular times with all factory appendages.
I think I’d look at another model were it me. |

Alright no go on that project idea

Like mentioned gassing on the 1100 is tricky. That being said a friend of mine recently bought a 2 3/4 1100 that somebody put a 3" magnum barrel on. It wouldn't run the bolt at all with bird shot. Barely ran with hotter 2 3/4" and not reliably.
I was able to get the correct gas port measurements online with a cross reference to drill bit sizes. I drilled the gas port (which is super easy) and took it to the woods to throw clays. Runs 100% now. ETA: The SBS semi auto game is best played with Browning A5s and Remington Model 11s. IMHO. Plus they look more hardcore. haha. |

Take a peak here. As mentioned, A5's and Model 11's are worth a good look if wanting a semi SBS.

Yeah I've been eyeing that thread.
I just happened to have an 1100 tactical sitting in the safe that looked like it wanted to be shortened. I'll do an A5 once I get one at a decent price I don't mind chopping. Have two that were my grandfathers that I won't touch with a saw for sure. |

View Quote Around here they have been going for $300 or so in more remote gun shops. Check that the forearm wood is not cracked (caused by shooting heavy loads in the light recoil setting) and the screw heads are not all mangled due to someone using an ill-fitting screw driver to take it apart. They are also often times missing some rings for the recoil system due to them being removed/added depending on what loads you are shooting. This is why it is a good idea to "store" them below the recoil spring. See youtube for clarification. |

Cheaper to buy a Benelli M4 instead of all the tinkering an 1100 will require and cost.

I cut down a 28” Barrel to 18.5” before getting the stamp for one of my 1100s and had to open up the ports.
Cutting it down to 14” required nothing further to get it to shoot dove loads. |

I suggest we trade a question mark in for a maybe.

If you can find an 11-48 for a decent price(they seem to be either cheap as hell or forget about it in my area, nothing in between) you can end up with a SBS that looks somewhat like an 1100(no humpback), and being recoil operated should stay reliable. Might be another good place to look.

11-87 take any work to run? I really want to chop one of the 20's I picked up.

In Semi-auto SBS’s, I have:
2x HK m1s90’s 2x Rem 11’s I thought I wanted a Rem 1100 SBS too but had heard the same thing, that they could be very hit/miss on getting them to run. Thought abt a tac-13 as well but passed.. Attached File Attached File |
