Only the baffles and mount are 17-4 pH, the tube is Aluminum (their site doesn't say what kind).

When I was looking at .45 suppressors a few months ago, the Obsidian looked like the best all around option for suppression, modularity and toughness. It's also nice that it's rated for .44 mag, .450 BM and .45-70 with barrel lengths over 16". The check cashed on mine on Dec 31st.... Long ways to go.

That is correct. I should have been more clear that I meant all baffles were 17-4 unlike some other cans where just the blast baffle or first few baffles are stainless

Specifically for a Mk23? I would have to pair it with the one and only KAC Mk23 suppressor.

Generic modern 45 can? I went with Rugged Obsidian 45. Excellent reviews and the rebate they were offering for all the included mounts was a no brainer.

Obsidian 45 is a great pistol suppressor. Uses SiCo compatible piston sizing. The Omega 45k is another useful design as it can handle 300BO supers.  So your other hosts and uses, height of pistol sights, and whether you need disassembly (cast lead) are the considerations between those two.

I got a steal of a deal on a Gemtech Lunar but if I were looking at a current gen .45, I’d buy an obsidian

Got in on the capital armory TiRant 45 deal ($350). It’s amazing...especially at $350 plus stamp. I will say getting a Mask at $400 and the Ghost $399 is tempting me like a college dude at a Girls Gone Wild party.

Looking at Lunar piston and accessory prices I'm not sure what constitutes a good deal.  Someone (maybe you) was looking for pistons and the prices were >$120 a pop.

Edit:  To add my opinion

I have an original TiRant 45 and it does a fantastic job.  I would be all over a second one for <$400.  However, I am waiting for two freebies from the SiCo promotion so I'm not buying another 45 can right now.

I have an aac evo only because I got it as a NOS for $150 (plus stamp).  Great can.  I also have an octane 45 and that's a great can as well.

But right now, as stated above, the capital armory TiRant for 350 is a killer deal.

I did this search recently and went with a Griffin Revolution 45. Great reviews, modular, and can take 300BO supers and small doses of 556, 7.62, and even 308. I figure it will hold up fine to pistol with that kind of rating, they are a great company, and if I can have it live on an HD rifle that helps me too.

You have a specialty pistol, pair it up the way it was made.

Go with the Knights can.

If it's going on a Mk23 it has to be a KAC.

Why?

Does he have to rock a giant '90s laser module as well, just because it's a Mk23?

Obsidian .45 if you're looking for performance, otherwise the KAC or a SiCo Osprey, depending on what vibe you're looking for.

How do those actually sound?  They don't get talked about nearly as much as the other Dead Air products.

Loud on a 45 handgun. I prefer my TiRant and Obsidian over the Ghost. The Ghost lives on my full size MP5 clone now. Works great there and the Dead Air 3 lug mount is pretty nice.
