So I was just wondering if your cleaning habits change when you use spray paint as your finish.  Obviously you dont want to coat the outside with oil or anything, but would like input.  Thanks!

I pretty much just leave the exterior alone, get's nothing and wipe off any over-spray.

We talking long guns or pistols? For an AR I’d clean per my normal routine. Separate upper from lower, remove BCG, etc. I like using a toothbrush and a tips so I can control the amount of solvent being applied. Only painted one handgun but I hammered it pretty good with matte clear so it was fairly impervious to cleaning products. Worst case, you lose some paint and get that worn look everyone seems to be after

Don't use spray paint if a little rubbing off here and there isn't acceptable.

I've got an AR that's been painted for a few years and gets regular use.  The finish is holding up just fine but I don't "clean" the outside of it.  Just wipe it off if necessary and clean the internal parts as normal.

I clean like normal.  If finish wears who cares its spray paint.  It should wear with real use anyway.
